Eyes for Africa was founded in 2004 by Marieke Jennings. After organising many trips for friends and family that came to visit and the passion for South Africa and its nature, the decision was made to turn her passion into a business, which resulted in Eyes for Africa.

About Marieke

Growing up in The Netherlands with an insatiable love for animals, nature and travel, resulted in me taking up a job offer in Johannesburg in 1999. The original idea was to stay for a few years, but life turned out quite differently. Nearly 25 years later and happily married, I still proudly call South Africa my home. We live in a very small village in the Overberg in the Western Cape, which suits my love for nature and the outdoors perfectly. Early morning hikes with the dogs are the highlight of my day!

Living in South Africa gives me the opportunity to travel a lot in this amazing country and visit a great variety of accommodations of different styles and sizes. During our annual holidays, I always make it a mission to inspect some new and existing accommodations, so I can personally vouch for the quality and locations of the various places on offer. The decision to make my passion my profession has been the best thing I have ever done.

The process of creating a holiday for a client is something I thoroughly enjoy. From a first introductory chat, to selecting the most fitting route and suitable accommodations never gets old. I always learn something new too! There is no greater joy for me than experiencing South Africa through my client's eyes over and over again!
